The agreement in plain language
zTab is private by default: your private homepage data is visible only to your account or trusted device. We take intellectual property and user privacy seriously.
- Using zTab means accepting these terms.
- You keep ownership of what you upload and stay responsible for it; zTab can remove content that breaks copyright, privacy or these terms.
- E2EE covers Notes and Tasks only. You manage the PIN and recovery key, and losing every unlocked device along with that key can make the content unrecoverable.
- zTab is provided “as is”, with the liability limits set out in section 7.

By accessing or using zTab, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. zTab provides a private browser homepage, customizable widgets, and a Community for sharing sanitized designs.
2. User Content and Responsibility
You are solely responsible for all content you upload, create, or share on zTab, including shortcuts, text, images, and videos. You agree not to upload any content that violates intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any applicable laws. zTab acts merely as a hosting platform and assumes no liability for user-generated content.
3. Copyright and Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of your content. However, you must ensure you have the necessary rights and permissions to use and upload any third-party images, videos, or other materials. If we receive a valid copyright infringement notice, or if we determine content violates these Terms, zTab reserves the right to immediately remove the content or terminate your account without prior notice.
4. Platform Rights and Moderation
To protect our platform and community, zTab reserves the right to review, monitor, and remove any content at our sole discretion. We are not obligated to monitor content but will take action if violations of copyright or privacy are detected, protecting zTab from legal liabilities.
5. Accounts and Community
You must secure your Google sign-in and trusted devices. Community snapshots are sanitized to remove private data before publishing. We are not liable for any unauthorized access resulting from your failure to secure your devices.
6. End-to-End Encrypted Notes and Tasks
E2EE applies to Notes and Tasks. It does not apply to Shortcuts, Pet or ordinary widget state, although those remain private and access-controlled. Notes and Tasks are encrypted on-device before synchronization. The shared six-digit PIN is not sent to zTab, zTab does not store the plaintext data key, and Extension approval grants only an encrypted key envelope bound to that device public key. You manage the recovery key; losing every unlocked device and that key can make encrypted content unrecoverable. E2EE does not cover account, device, timestamps, revision, ciphertext size, IP/security logs or sync metadata, nor information exposed through a client, clipboard, screenshot, browser cache or user backup. Delete PIN & recovery key permanently removes synced Notes and Tasks, including legacy encrypted data that was not migrated. Revocation stops future sync but cannot erase content already decrypted on that device. See /why#e2ee.
7. Limitation of Liability
zTab is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, zTab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, data loss, or user content disputes.
Retention summary
Predictable windows, not silent deletion.
- Free private tabs are warned after about 23 inactive days.
- Free private tabs are soft-deleted after about 30 inactive days.
- Soft-deleted tabs remain recoverable from Dashboard for about 7 days.
- Anonymous tabs expire after about 7 days unless claimed into an account.
- Installed/offline View snapshots can be used offline for up to 7 days before reconnect is required.
- Deleting the server copy of your bookmarks removes their AI summaries and keywords with them.
- Summaries built by an earlier AI prompt are cleared when the prompt changes, then rebuilt from scratch.
