How it works
Three steps to your own new tab.
1 · Install
Download the package for your browser, unpack it, then add it from your browser's own extensions page.
2 · Open a new tab
Your zTab takes the place of the blank page: background, clock, weather and quick links.
3 · Make it yours
Move the widgets around and pick a background. Sign in to carry the same setup to another browser — a background folder from your own computer stays where it is.

Your saved zTab keeps opening from this browser for up to 7 days without a connection. Weather, AI and sync need the network.

Photo and video wallpapers, Bing photo of the day and Unsplash collections, on a schedule you set.
Save from the toolbar
Save the page you are on in one action. zTab sorts it into one of its own categories for as long as your AI allowance lasts. Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera only.
Spotlight search
One shortcut searches the pages you saved, without leaving the tab you are in. Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera only.
Ask zTab
Ask a question and get your own saved pages back with a short summary. It reads only what you saved, needs bookmark sync switched on, and runs in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera.

What works in which browser
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera
The whole package: the new tab page, widgets, backgrounds, bookmark sync, saving from the toolbar, search and Ask zTab.
Firefox
The new tab page, widgets and backgrounds. The Firefox package never asks for bookmark access, so bookmark sync, saving from the toolbar, bookmark search and Ask zTab are not available there.
Safari
There is no Safari package. On Safari you can still open zTab as your homepage.

Both shortcuts work on ordinary web pages. Your browser does not let an extension run on its own pages — settings, the extensions list, the web store, the PDF viewer — so there saving is not offered and the search shortcut opens a new zTab instead.
They act on your saved bookmarks, so they need bookmark access: Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera.
You can change either shortcut on your browser's keyboard shortcuts page.
Permissions
What zTab asks for, and when
zTab installs without any of these. Each one is asked for at the moment you switch on the feature that needs it, and your browser's extension settings can take it back at any time.
Your browser bookmarks
So zTab can show, search and sync the bookmarks already in your browser. Offered in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera.
Your browsing history
Only for the “most opened” report. It is read on this computer and sent nowhere.
Access to the sites you save
So the save and search panel can open on a page, and so your saved links can be checked for ones that no longer work.
A folder of your own pictures
In Chrome and Edge you can point zTab at a folder on your computer and let it rotate through the pictures. Images only — video files in the folder are skipped. The folder never leaves this browser: nothing is uploaded, and the choice does not follow you to another browser or another computer.
