Your layout
Arrange the new tab around how you work
Drag a widget where you want it, resize it, and change its style. Your layout is saved with the zTab you are editing, so you can keep several and switch between them.
Drag and drop
Move any widget on the grid. The editor snaps it into place so nothing overlaps.
Resize
Pull a widget wider or taller when you want more of it on screen, smaller when you do not.
Restyle
Each widget carries its own look: type size, colour and the glass panel behind it.

Keep one page for work and another for the evening, then pick which one opens.

Clock and time zones
The local time in a size you can read across the room, plus the cities you work with.
Weather
Current conditions and the days ahead for the place you choose. It needs a network connection to refresh.
Solar and lunar calendar
The date in both the Gregorian and the lunar calendar, for anyone who keeps track of both.
Shortcuts
A row of the pages you open every day, with their icons, grouped into the sets you want.
The widget list grows over time. What is on this page is what you can add today.
Backgrounds
Pick the view you open onto
A full-screen photo or video sits behind everything else. Choose one and keep it, or let it change on its own.
Photo or video
Use a still image or a looping video from the zTab library.
A new one each day
Follow the Bing or Unsplash daily picture and open onto something different each morning.
A different one through the day
Schedule backgrounds by time of day, so morning, afternoon and evening each open onto their own.
From your own computer
The extension can use image files from a folder on your computer.

A background chosen from your own computer stays in that browser. It is not uploaded, so it does not appear on your other devices. Library photography is credited to its photographer on the background picker.
Bookmarks
Find the pages you saved
zTab keeps your saved pages in one library you can search in your own words, instead of scrolling a folder tree you built years ago.
Save a page
Save what you are reading from the extension, or import the bookmarks you already have.
Search
Search by title, address or the words you remember, and open the result straight away.
Categories
AI sorts new saves into categories so a long library stays navigable.
Summaries
A short summary of a saved page tells you whether it is the one you meant.
Ask
Ask a question and get an answer drawn from the pages you saved, with links back to them.
Library report
Find duplicates and links that no longer work, then clear them out.

Ask answers from your own saved pages. It does not search the web, so a subject you never saved has no answer here.
Saving, syncing and AI need an account. AI features draw on a monthly allowance shown on your plan.
Templates
Start from a template, then make it yours
Every template is a finished page you can copy. The copy is yours: change the background, move the widgets, keep what you like.
Your own private copy
Using a template creates a new zTab on your account. Editing it never changes the original.
Nothing personal travels
A shared design carries the layout and the styling. It does not carry the author's bookmarks or account data.
Change anything
A template is a starting point, not a theme you are stuck inside.

Carry your setup to the browsers you connect
Sign in, connect a browser, and the zTab you designed opens there too.

Syncing needs an account, and each new browser is connected once from your account. A page you have already opened can come back without a network connection. Fresh weather, AI answers and syncing a change all need one.

Before you start
- Do I need an account?
- No, to look around and open a template. Yes, to save a zTab of your own, to sync it to another browser, and to use bookmarks and the AI features.
- What is in the free plan?
- A free plan covers designing and using your own zTab, with limits on how many zTabs you keep and how much AI you use each month. The limits that apply to you are shown on your account.
- Which browsers does zTab work with?
- The extension replaces the new tab on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and other Chromium browsers, and on Firefox. Any modern desktop browser can open a zTab as a normal web page or set it as the homepage.
- What works without a network connection?
- A zTab you have already opened comes back from the copy on your device, with the content it had. Refreshing the weather, asking the AI anything and syncing a change all need a connection.
- Are pictures from my computer uploaded?
- No. A background chosen from a folder on your computer is read by that browser only. It is not uploaded and it does not appear on your other devices.
- What does the AI receive?
- To summarise a saved page or answer a question about your library, zTab sends that page's title, address and content along with your question. Nothing else in your account is sent.
- If I share a design, do I share my bookmarks?
- No. A shared design carries the layout and styling only. Your bookmarks and your account data are stripped out before it is published.
